How does it work?

Our founder, Jim McKelvey, co-founder of Square, says LaunchCode works like speed dating: We extensively review employers and employees and match them based on talent need, expertise, and fit. When you've found the right apprentice, it's best to pair them with a strong mentor to help them learn the specific ins and outs of your team's structure, workflow, and needs. This gives you time to assess their aptitude and fit before hiring them on as a full-fledged employee. Companies who take on a LaunchCode apprentice hire them full-time more than 80% of the time.

How are you different than a recruiter?

We are a nonprofit aiming to solve the tech talent gap in America. And in order to do that, we need top businesses on board as hiring partners. We are not interested in shuffling people around and we do not actively recruit anyone away from their job. We have a careful evaluation process to make sure you are speaking only with software developers who are a good fit and will be a dedicated member of your team. Our innovative process provides a better value to your organization than typical recruiters charging a percentage of each new hire’s salary based on volume over quality. Also, we are cheaper. A typical IT recruiter charges 33% of first year salary (~$17k).
